The current lifetime ban on MSM donors was created in the 1980s, when very little was known about AIDs. The condition was initially named Gay-Related Immunodeficiency Disease (GRID) and was thought to only affect homosexual men, often called ;The Gay Plague' or 'The Gay Disease'. Surely we are not still so ignorant?
